FDA announced on April 22, 2025, their intention for synthetic dyes to be phased out of the U.S. food supply. This applies to the six colorants that are permitted for coloring foods generally, such as Yellow 6, and that people are familiar with. In that same announcement, FDA shared that they will begin the process to revoke the approval of two other colorants: Orange B and Citrus Red No. 2.
